So I've jacked in the day job (managing the ElectronicsWeekly.com website) and moved back to Shropshire.
The plan is to go back to college in September and start a PGCE in secondary science. At the same time I'm doing my mountain leaders course.
Shropshire is quite useful as it gives easy access (relative to Surrey) to North Wales, the Peak and other good climbing spots.
My name is Rich and I've been mountaineering and climbing for about 25 years, mainly in the UK, but also in Europe.
Just over ten years ago I moved down to Surrey to work as a technology journalist, but I've now decided the time is right to get closer to North Wales.
This blog is going to be some sort of chronicle of my life as I leave the safety of a big corporate (Reed Business) and attempt two fairly "big things".
The plan over the next few years is to: a) complete a PGCE and become a science teacher, and b) gain the mountain instructor award (MIA).
Apologies for the brevity of this post, but I have written this whole blogging platform myself, and I only started learning PHP a week ago. I must be mad.
